Mine does work most of the time. I agree it SHOULD work, ALL the time....

LINLOAD does this:
Loadlin vmlinuz root=/dev/hdb2 ro
No bootsector. Not within the reach of DEFRAG as it is on a floppy.
With linload there is no interaction with WINxx
The main problem is that something is changing the partition-table
of the EXTENDED partition (=all logical partition E: thru G: in the
extended partition affected). All drives GONE (only C: and CDROM
drive left)
However just restoring the partition-table from a rescue diskette
brings E: thru G: back. No damage to any harddisk-data if I 'rescue'
immediately.
I am interested in booting direct off floppy. It's one of the next
things to do with Linux.
Still looking for the docs on booting.
I find floppy startup a lot easier than LILO.
I got turned off on LILO because I often ended up in Linux when I
wanted to boot WIN95. The default is 'linux' as set by RH 5.0
ezstart.bat installer.
A newbie with no working-knowledge yet of linux needs default 'dos'

I am aware of the old-DOS-pgms problem. I strictly use WINxx tools.
The DEFRAG I used was the WIN98 defrag.
I limit myself to FAT16 to minimize compatibility problems.
Thanks for helping.
