Strange...it works here. I'm dual-booting Win98 and RH 6.0
(work machine.) One difference (besides versions of RedHat)
is that I'm using LILO and you're using LINLOAD. That MIGHT
be the problem there. I suspect LINLOAD is looking for the
something in the MBR or something that gets wiped out with
defrag. I have NO (ZERO) problems with Win98 Defrag here.
Have you thought of just making a boot floppy and booting
off that when you want to go to Linux? That way you'd be
able to defrag to your heart's content.

One other thing....although it's not exactly relevant to
Linux....you really shouldn't use DOS-level defrag utils
(including Norton Commander, MSDOS Defrag, etc) on a Win98
system, at least not if you're using FAT32! That's a good
way to kill your FAT32!!!
