Hi Karl Heinz,
I downloaded and used the stc740XXX.upp driver that
you mentioned. I installed it at all 3 of its
supported resolutions (360*360, 720*720, and 1440)
and tested with both usb-uhci and uhci (JE).
I didn't have any problems, but maybe you are sending
LOTS more data to the printer than I am.
At first I was printing a web page with a few small
graphics on it, but since you said you are printing
large (letter sized) images, I downloaded some
Van Gogh art to print. These images are still only
about 1/2 page each, but gimp stretches them to be
full page when I print them. lpq said that I was
sending about 800 KB to the printer each time that
I printed. I don't see any loss of data and I didn't
have any error messages.
Can you recommend some data (graphics) for me to print?
What software do you use to print it?

Randy,
there is a much improved uniprint module for the stc740 at
http://dutera.et.tudelft.nl/~haver/linux/epson.html.
If you want to do serious Gimp printing go to
gimp-print.sourceforge.net, this driver - despite the name -
can also be compiled as a GhostScript driver and gives you the
best possible output under Linux.
Now regarding my problems: I am using usb-uhci, is this different
from your setup?
Karl Heinz
