Oh, I definitely think we need MORE mailing lists. Let's just break this
puppy up into so many component parts that no one has any idea where to
participate or what the whole should look like when it is all brought
together again and presented to ICANN. Sigh.

The decision has been made that the DNSO.ORG list is the official
repository of discussion about DNSO activities. Within that, there will be
a general assembly list, an announce list for activities of the Names
Council, Working Group or issue-oriented lists, and constituency lists I
suppose. Forget that there is spillover between issues discussed on this
list--the only two-way ICANN focused list--and issues discussed on
DNSO.ORG. Now we get to decide which issue should be discussed where,
although the boundaries are not very distinct.

And we are all asked to manage this profusion of lists and information on a
very aggressive time schedule, worked in between the cracks of available
time while trying to earn a living, yet participating in discussions and
developing recommendations that will affect millions of Internet users for
years to come.

Nope, there's nothing wrong with that picture. Those who protest, who urge
the development of principles and procedures first are accused of trying to
slow down the process. Self organization may be messy, but why does it also
have to be so unreasonable.
