Stephen:
Everyone should have your problem! You are embarking on what is, arguably, the
finest cruising ground in the world. Rockland is a wonderful jumping off point
as the major Maine islands are just east of there. You have left out one of
the most important pieces of data: how much time do you have? Also, do you
want to anchor out or make a civilized port every few days? Both are very
possible and enjoyable. What will you be sailing?
I have cruised Maine for 35 years, and still do. If you give me an idea of
your timeline, I will suggest an itinerary for a first-time Maine cruise. I
will be spending the month of September cruising the Maine coast, so maybe I'll
see you there.
