The reason that the average guy won't be able to afford solar, even 
though it will be cheaper over the long run, is the capital cost.  
Utilities are used to paying big bucks for energy sources that won't be 
amortized for a long time.  Look at nukes.  Some of those reactors 
haven't quite paid for themselves yet.

Because it is now legal for an entity to produce excess electricity and 
sell it back to the power company, reduced solar costs will cause more 
businesses to do just that.

IMHO, when the oil goes way up and solar comes down a bunch, we'll see 
both high end homes in the right climates and utilities (directly and 
indirectly) using more solar.
