Hi Santiago,

regarding

Now, how do you see the whole picture? I have been looking into Issue 59216
and to my surprise found that there are lots of files there. I expected to
find 2 or 3 reports for Calc for example, coming from Natalie, but there are
lots and lots of them (I've counted at least 17 files that contain 'Calc' in
the name and that makes me really scary). That would be madness if we had to
integrate changes coming from so many reviews. I opened a couple of them,
one contained 28 issues, another 118....

I think that we have this scenario because the Community is performing 100% review on a 400000 words large volume..... Usually, we would perform 10-20% review on a such large volume and we would indicate some typical bugs that need to be corrected throughout the files and we would not mention every single one as the Dutch Community is doing. So this is mainly the reason why there are so many issues filed in each QA form.

Bert and all,

any idea on how we can optimize this approach so that it can work both for you and us?

Thanks,
Rafaella

Hi Rafaella

First thanks a lot for your defense of Alpha this morning and for your
confidence. We did indeed check for the example given just to be sure that
we hadn't done that part, even though Nicole knew by heart she would not
have left a translation like that if it had gone through her eyes.

Anyway, things are moving and I think this new reviewer, Natalie, knows
quite well what she is doing, she probably comes from the localization
business since she mentions 'fuzzy', which you wouldn't normally expect from
someone outside this world (well, that is just a thought).

I understood that Issue 59216 was going to collect the last and final Review
reports coming from Natalie, as the final ones and the only ones to pay
attention to when implementing changes. But everybody seems to leave there
new stuff, partial reviews, comments, etc.. so it is very confusing. This
should be clarified.

Well, that all for the moment.
Have a nice weekend.

cheers

Hi Bert and All,

just to be clear on how to proceed ... it is important that this
feedback does not get lost and that it gets implemented in the files. So
please do include such feedback in the QA sheets. I'll work with
Santiago/Nicole to make sure that they get the files and the information
they need.

Thanks,
Rafaella

Hi All,

Let's summarize some things, because some mails were offlist and some were
onlist.
1. Jigal encountered some help files that were very poorly translated.
2. I sent a mail to the localization list with a question how to handle
these pages.
3. I also sent a mail to Rafaella and Nicole in which I asked them what
happened.
4. Jigal says we (community) can put the pages it concerns into the review
sheets, because that way the help is probably finished faster.
5. Rafaella explained that a part of the help files was migrated from OOo
1.x help, a part was translated by the community and a part was translated
by alpha. Although this was a response to a question regarding the style
guide, it also gives an insight on this matter.
6. Nicole says that the page I referred to wasn't in the files that Alpha
translated.
Conclusion:
The poorly translated pages originate from OOo1.x. (Alpha didn't have it,
and the community only translated Writer pages, this specific page is about
formulas).
Since I thought that the migration from OOo1.x to OOo2 didn't succeed I
didn't think of this as a possibility. That's the reason why I sent the mail
to Rafaella and Nicole, because I thought something went wrong between Sun
and Alpha. Basically this brings up another conclusion, and that is that all
the confusion wasn't really necessary.
I think I'm gonna go with Jigal's idea to put page like that on the review
sheets.
Any comments/questions/.... are welcome.

Regards,

Bert

Hi All,

I've searched through the Help files we translated for the sentence "Hoe
naar schrijven formules in Math boven twee regels...", and I can't find it,
from which I can only conclude that we did not get this page for translation
or review. If we had, it most definitely would have been changed. I think it
must be due to what Rafaella explained in her mail, and as people have
noticed, that is not the only page left in there.
I'm not sure what the best way forward is, but we will do our best to
help.
Kind regards,
Nicole
