Because it would be quite truthful to say that you had N years experience whilst conveniently editing the fact that the first M (or maybe the whole N) were as a call centre operative in the internet industry? [and other less contrived examples for the case of 6 years /relevant/ experience. 'cos the call centre operative may well get some of the experience, such as stock options that aren't worth the paper they're written on (particularly if they are double sided so that you can't print on the back), being encourage to working all hours God sends (and in addition please find more hours from an alternative source), crowded temporary offices, being owed pay when the company goes insolvent, etc] Nicholas Clark
