thanks everyone for you replys but back to my original post i have to use microsoft office especially access because my solution 6 (accounting office management programm depends on it and they wont support it on anything else) aswell as myob and quickbooks, so people have mention wine, codeweavers plugin and win4lin which would be the best way to go
thanks ps i agree that this list is better than any other support :-) -----Original Message----- From: Alex Younts [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, 23 April 2002 10:34 AM To: Jon Mardell; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Ltsp-discuss] newbie terminal server question My suggest would be to get away from any Windows product. In the end it will save you time and money. However, if you have to have those programs, I would suggest using KOffice, OpenOffice, or StarOffice to replace MS Office. There are also other office suits for Linux, but those are what I would suggest. If you can't find a replace for a program in Linux, then I would suggest you look into WINE or the Codeweavers plugin or office programs. They allow you to run Windows programs on Linux. -Alex On Tuesday 23 April 2002 00:16, Jon Mardell wrote: > Hi > > i am looking at terminal services at the moment and wanted an opinion, i am > currently running nt4 server (not terminal server edition) with xp/2k > clients but wanted to basically change over to a terminal server because we > have 2 offices now and it makes things easier but my problem is that all my > software i require is windows based (word, excell, access, outlook, > solution 6, and a few other windows based programs) i dont really want to > fork out for win2k terminal server edition i would rather spend the extra > money on hardware. what would everyone recomend would be the best way to > go > > thanks > jj > > > > _____________________________________________________________________ > Ltsp-discuss mailing list.
