Mike,

Hmm.  First of all, try setting RUNLEVEL = 3
in the lts.conf file.

Then, when you get a bash prompt, run this:

    sh /tmp/start_ws

I suspect you'll get the same error, but lets make sure.

I'm not sure why the display would be '...:1.0', it really should
be "...:0.0".

Have you tried customizing your ltsp to launch 2 xservers ?
