Jean-Pierre,

I use a similar setup, just BasicTeX because of the smaller foot print
with additional packages loaded as needed and WIndows7 and Windows10
virtual machines in the latest Virtual Box.

buffer-view.sgvz is displayed as icon in the text without issues as are
all the others.

I don't use inkscape, but have librsvg installed (via homebrew).

Once that is done a reconfigure in LyX will find rsvg-convert which
does as well but with much smaller footprint (and I think also faster).

Inkscape on the Mac requires a X11 servier, ie XQuartz.

The Examples are in (and below)

 /Applications/LyX.app/Contents/Resources/examples/

I am an elderly Gynecologist, running my practice on LyX since 2004 and
find this extremely easy.
