In my case I'm kewl about a year ahead of my intention to be cool. The
screen on my former macbook went kaplooie, south, bonkers....well you
get the idea. I had planned on getting a new machine next summer however
I couldn't see putting $700 + dollars into this one if I was going to
get a new one next year, so I just bit the bullet and got one this week.

Yes it is the LED display model. If by rendering you mean how do the
photos look - very bright. If by rendering you mean how quickly changes
occur within (in my case) photoshop elements 4, I can't answer as I'm
still installing apps and haven't done any editing of photos.

If you have some other meaning of rendering please, as it were,
illuminate me! :-)

If you happen to be in town and would like a tour of it, let me know.

Thanks.

Harry
