Actually, advertising *is* a part of this list.  However, it
needs to remain only a small part. To have even a prayer of being
acceptable, advertisments need to be directly relevant to this
community, i.e. they must have something to do with MapInfo or
GIS or to a particular message thread.  They must have
information content and not be full of eye-tripping layout and
lemon-scented buzzwords.  It's the difference between writing to
individual people who happen to be in a group as opposed to
broadcasting to eyeballs.  One-way broadcast ads posted by people
who never participate in discussions don't qualify.  Do that and
you'll earn a BFNB branding.  But those who follow and
occasionaly join the disscusions here shouldn't feel put off to
recommend their wares or others' when it's relevant.
