There is no question that Iran has paid a very heavy price during this war but I think that RKOB's .assessment is basically correct, And I think that is likely to become increasingly apparent in the days, weeks, and months ahead. And this should not come as any great suprise. The US has not been able to wina war for the past eighty years. The US is still a highly lethal power. Bobody can inflict death and ddestruction like the US. But that is quite a different thing than being able to use that lethal power to acjieve strategic goals. The US was defeated in Vietnam a half-century ago. The Vietnamese people a very heavy price for that but they did win that war, just the same. The same thing in Iraq and Afghanistan/ In the case of Iraq, the US ,finds itself sharing control of that country with, you guessed it, Iran. And in Afganistan, the US spent twenty years fighting the Taliban, only to turn that coubtry pver to the . . . Taliban.
