Let me rephrase this: after speaking about a 3.01 dB *increase*, I said, | 20 dB has ten times the energy reaching the sensor (or ear) as 10 dB. A *reading* of 20 dB would have ten times as much energy reaching the sensor (or reaching the ear) as a reading of 10 dB.
