What are you calling a "second generation" DVD player? None of the Sony or
Toshiba models that are currently being sold at Best Buy will read a CDR.
Pioneer is the only one that would read them. I took a CDR there and tried
them all. I used both a CDR that I created, and one from MP3.COM.

All second generation DVD players read CD-R's.
