It's not grey at all. The "fair use" doctrine allows you to record
it for your own personal use; it does not allow you to give it to
others.
It is legal to borrow the CD and copy it though.
No, it's not. Again, you may legally copy a CD which you own, as
long as that copy is for your personal use only.
