James,
1.
Fit a stanza cross_member complete.(you have to drill new holes using the
old cross member as a template. Slot the engine mounts to drop the engine
25mm on the mount plates
2.
Fit a hydraulic master cylinder by plating the fire-wall, drilling holes
etc.
3.
Manufacture a new gearbox cross member ensuring the output shaft on the box
is in the same position as the original. ( This will require some serious
violence to the tunnel unless an auto shell is used. In which case a manual
hydraulic clutch pedal box must be fitted.).
4.
Fit a new diff assembly, (620 ute is ideal but the axles have to be
modified for 4 stud and different PCD) Use an alloy carrier H190 if
possible to reduce unsprung weight.
5.
Get a 180B or similar manual tailshaft and shorten to suit.
6.
Fit a Pulsar N13 radiator.
7.
Fit 200B or Stanza struts.
8.
Get some good brakes (at least 200B) into it!

Hi guys a friend (and fellow dat freak) had a question that I couldn't
answer and thought that someone on the list could help out
What would have to be done to fit a L16, L18 or L20 to a 1200.
Obviously the engine cross member would have to be modified, but who would
do this and how. I assume that the drive train tunnel would be large
enough
to fit a L series gear box, but the tail shaft would have to be modified.
Also to keep the rego people happy there would have to be larger brakes
and a brake booster, would a 200B brakes fit for example.
Thankyou in advance for any info. And no I haven't bought a 1200, but am
thinking of possible options for turning an ugly 200B into parts for
something more appealing and fast.
