Hi James :) I know where you're coming from but I can't do it that way. Don't know what caster you run, but I'm running 6 deg positive. This means you can't just un-do the nut off the back of the lower control arm pivot point and pull it back over the bolt, it just will not go. If you can picture the wheel end of the control arm being pulled forward by the radius rod and the pivot end has to go back the opposite way to get over the pivot bolt.
I bought them thinking they would adjust simply by doing as you describe, but the only way to do it (for me anyway) is to pull it off the strut as outlined earlier.
