For those young guys who want to thrash your Datto's on the road, join a car club and go rallying. You will soon learn that it takes a lot more skill to stay up there with the good drivers than most black top punters have. If you survive the first couple of events without destroying your car, you will have learnt more about driving under all sorts of conditions, and have a lot of respect for your Datto's ability to handle real punishment.
You will also be mixing it with a bunch of serious competitors, very different from the show pony brigade cars built for 20 seconds of straight line (albeit sideways sometimes) speed only.
