My L20B motor has (I suspect) a 76 cam and definitely has forged pistons, twin Weber 45's nitrided, balanced crank 280zx valves etc. Are the standard conrods alloy? 'cos mine are. Apparently there are 200 horses lurking in there somewhere. I am just making a windage tray and baffling the sump using perforated sheetmetal and then I'm ready to bolt the beast in. Time for a brake upgrade too methinks. I havnt run the thing yet but my mechanic showed me how HE sets the tappets so tight you almost bend the feeler gauges getting it in. Once in the gap, the rocker arm wear surface will settle to be parallel to the lashpad wear surface and the feeler gauge slides a bit easier. I always used to set mine a bit looser than his method, no wonder it always took me 2-3 goes to get rid of the tappet noise. Never too old to learn I guess.
