Howdy -
All this talk about different fuels piqued my interest - especially while watching the Audi documentary (called "Truth in 24") about them winning LeMans using a diesel powered sports car. There were also many signs around the circuit promoting Shell V Power which was used to power the diesel engines in the Audi's. Awesome cars - instead of a roaring race car passing the grandstands, they rush past with a quietness not normally seen at LeMans.

Just wondering is anyone has any quantifiable reasons for using one fuel over another? I believe some diesels have a minimun Cetane rating higher than other diesel fuels. I wonder if there are other reasons for choosing one fuel over another?

I'd like to get the best mileage but not at the expense of a fuel that keep the injectors and inj pump clean and working properly. Stuff like that - anyone know of someway to figure out which fuel is the best? The "Seat of the Pants" method can be misleading and can take a long time --

   Any ideas?

Thx -

WVO contains several things that cause trouble as fuel:

Protein (clogs filters, carbonizes, and produces varnish in the IP)

Carbohydrates (clogs filters and carbonizes easily, abrasive)

[SNIP]
