not.

-England cracked down on all VO use - new or WVO
becuase of road tax evasion...so only using WVO and
not edible VO would not have stopped this clampdown.

-About 30,000 Germans use VO. They are so happy to pay
the bulk price for fresh oil (as opposed to their
incredibly over taxed fuel at the pump) that they
don't even bother with WVO, they keep 1,000 liter
totes in their garages and have edible VO delivered by
truck to their houses. No crack down.

I can't see how anyone (except the gov) would be upset
about increased sales of fresh VO. If I were Cargill,
ADM, a farmer or Costco, then, great, more money for
them. The govt will get involved only for tax or
"safety" issues which are going to be the same for
homebrewed BioD from WVO or WVO use or fresh oil use.

AND, since we have no shortage of VO, I just can't
agree wtih you.

The 1/6 figure...it's meaningless since we obviously
cannot convert ALL cropland to oil production!
However, if ALL CRP land (the land the govt pays
farmers NOT to farm) were converted to oil production,
it would cover 6% of all US diesel needs. So a little
above 1/20, but that's on ground that taxpayers PAY
farmers to allow weeds to grow on...to say nothing of
arable land that is not cultivated and not in CRP.

And that is figuring soybeans, which produce
relatively low yield of oil...other crops would jack
that up significantly.

Add to that the new plant in Carthage, MO that turns
turkey guts to diesel or the operation in Germany that
converts almost anything into diesel:

then, we see light at the end of the tunnel. Will VO's
and turkey guts ever totally replace DinoD? Don't know
and I won't be around to find out, but it will
certainly help in the relatively short term.
