Ahh, okay.
Rusty still says its a 3 pin gizmo that looks right other than having 3 pins. I
shall clean the lower one which I have yet to touch tonight.

I was wrong, again!
The sensor near the the thermostat is for the aux. fan.
The engine thermometer for the gauge is in the head under the intake manifold.
Doh!
Reads 464 deg F at room temp and falls slowly from the heat of my hand.
I have one and it it's yours if you want.
