What Curt said. The early leaking often turns people off, but as the seals get properly lubricated they will (usually) get back into shape. I imagine you have some small chance that the loosened old-oil crud will get stuck in something, but in my opinion the longevity benefits of proper lubrication vastly outweigh that risk. Still might be worth changing filters at the halfway point, just the same, after a switch.
