I converted a 220 and a 200a to kerosene a couple years ago, they'll burn
diesel too if you preheat well enough. In the end I think the
designed-for-kerosene lanterns do better with the stuff although they tend to
be less common and more expensive. I haven't bought any lanterns in so long I
can't remember the last one I bought. I figured with 5 or more waiting in line
to get fixed I probably shouldn't be buying more.

"Sportster" you mean a 502? I've got one, its okay. I've got an Optimus 8R I
like a lot more, see it in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQZ-07MMaJU

I'd consider selling my 502 if you're serious. I've even got the box and
original instructions. It was maybe used twice when I got it, I've used it
maybe 5 times. Probably 2 quarts of fuel total in its life.

I've only got 1 Coleman, a circa 1974 dual mantle that has been converted to
kero. I also have a somewhat new-ish (maybe 1980's?) 2 burner stove.

I wouldn't mind having a sportster tho.
