Hard for me to see this political theater as anything other than a distraction, a foil, used by both R and D to whip up their base. Prez gets to claim progress, R's cry constitutional foul, gun sales and political fundraising and NRA memberships all go up, no change to violent crime or incidents of mass shootings or domestic terrorism.
