I think the point is, “How many of those parts are you buying from the
dealer?” OEM won’t make a difference.

I mean, I even buy my soft parts such as filters and such for the
dealer in most cases. They’re maybe 10% more, but it’s an OE part,
which certainly has value.

If the nearest dealers weren't 40 and 45 miles away, I'd pay RockAuto+shipping+10% for starmarked parts. But it's a chicken and egg thing. They might do that for me if I spent $1000-2000 a year, and I might spend $1000+ a year if they did that for me, but the pricing isn't going to happen before the spending happens, and the spending isn't going to happen before the pricing happens. Not that it matters, as I'm not investing two plus hours and 80 miles in a run to the Okemos dealership, but about once a year my mom had a medical related appointment reasonably close to that dealer. That's how I got my steering reservoir seals last year, I driving my mom in the neighborhood. Parts guy knew exactly what I wanted, went back and grabbed the cardboard bin off the shelves, then put the part number from the bin in the computer to invoice me.
