How likely is it that a key was left in the pan AT THE FACTORY in the
first place?  THAT seems unlikely to me... I'd think the pan would be
about the last thing installed on a new engine and probably done at
its own "station" on the line.  More likely, if the story is true at
all, it was dropped in during some subsequent repair or maintenance
job.
