I'm reasonably sure its the cylinder inside the door handle. Back before I sold the car I'd had this issue off and on but I was chasing it by occasionally lubing with PB Blaster to loosen things up followed by brake cleaner followed by graphite.
Then I sold the car and the new owner didn't touch the locks for 2 years... I've been hitting the locks with penetrant hard for a couple weeks and the passenger one is starting to gain, the driver's lock has gained a little (dammed little, 1/32" maybe). I think eventually I'd get the locks freed up through persistance but as I say I want to get this car on the road... I want to have the ability to have my 190D off the road for awhile so I can pay some attention to the A/C which I don't dare to do if I need the car to go to work the next day... I want to do like Wilton and have time to take the A/C components apart and do the job RIGHT... -Curt --- On Mon, 6/23/08, Craig McCluskey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: From: Craig McCluskey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [MBZ] Okay brain trust To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], "Mercedes Discussion List" <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Date: Monday, June 23, 2008, 10:57 PM On Mon, 23 Jun 2008 18:31:54 -0700 (PDT) Curt Raymond <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > So if I cut the shaft from the lock to the locking mechanism do I have a > hope of being able to get a new one or repair this one? Not having time to look at the innards of our car's doors, I think you would be wise to not cut it. > My wife can't be driving a car that has doors she can't lock... That's for sure. But you're not clear what the problem is: Is it the parts inside the door handle, or the parts inside the door that the parts inside the door handle turn?
