Why build FOUR different sites, each mantained by different people
investing their precious time instead of building ONE site for all envents.
1) Because we can build 4 different sites.
2) Because taking care of one club is easier than taking care of 3 clubs and sync between their needs.
3) Because linking one main site (which YOU, as a central unit, can and should take care of it only), is much easier.
There is no tailoring of the series to the geographical location. The
different lectures which require a lot of duplicate effort are a result of
lack of coordination between the clubs.
You can't demand coordination between the clubs. And if you want a coordination - this is something that you should take care of. Nobody will do your work. Your work is to be at the top of the pyramid, as simple as that.
I am a big fan of refactoring. That is, reduce the total amount of effort
by doing common tasks only once. If we have a site that links to the clubs'
sites, then people from Haifa would see a site in English and with only one
future lecture, people from Jeruslaem will have to navigate a different
site, and people from Tel Aviv will see no site at all. Not to mention the
fact that it will look very unprofessional (and degrades usability) that
changing a geographic location changes the entire design and navigation of
the site.
But you miss the points that I raised. Each club takes care of itself, and wants its success, hence will help themselves locally which is good, because this way the work is splitted. Another big point that you miss is the fact that each club is unique, and one club might not understand the others needs. You demand a lot of effort from the unique clubs. Each club is unique in its crowd, demands, priorities and the way he sees things - and this is something that you will not be able to bridge. What you can do instead is to sync, if you want, but this requires a different person which this will be his only job (in general it should be like taking care of "another club", but this club is called "central unit").
