This site was never ment to be the main site.
No other club ask to get the design or to include it's details in the
JLC site.
Haifux were in stages of getting up a new site for their series.
Some people at Haifux discussed that and there were some designs with
zero
content. Nothing came even close to be operational.
I hope you'll get it operational next year.
It's a shame people can't get the "main site" updated for a month.
I agree. Shlomi shouldn't have taken the job of maintaining the primary
w2l site if he didn't have time to do this. I think a representative from
each club should have access to modify the primary site, perhaps by some
automatic means (RSS?) to pervent this from happening.
As soon as I was notified of the problem, I modified the site
myself, even
though Shlomi's actions made it extremely hard (such as updating the live
site without updating the repository).
It's a shame I was asked to take the site down with no other
alternative in reach.
You could have volunteered to help maintain the primary site,as it is
obvious help was needed.
You could update the site in time. You could judge if it's wise to take
down the SINGLE up to date source of information.
I'm not a webmaster, I'm a LUG coordinator. I can sometimes motivate
people to assists in certain things. If you need help you may contact
me. Updating a table on a site is nothing to suspect is to difficult to
do and needs help (and moreover when someone already volunteered to do that)
this lousy managing of the main site caused direct demage to the JLC
efforts in this W2L series.
So why didn't any of the people at JLC volunteer to help maintain it
instead of the JLC version?
It was pretty unexpected that such capable persons will produce such
lousy results. It won't happen again.
It's a shame I couldn't adress the Jerusalem municipality and refer
them to a site presenting teh series untill it was too late.
Couldn't you refer them to your own site?
It wasn't up antill it was to late. The 10 days, or so, I waited for the
general site to be updated made the difference. I won't do this mistake
again.
