You should be able to disable secure boot on x86/64 and as I understand it
the linux communities that are getting their own keys are to allow people
unfamiliar with a BIOS to still install and/or for those that want the
security that secure boot allows.  As far as running DBAN I try and avoid
any delays or gotchas with RMAs.  While I agree that you should be able to
erase I dont waste my time arguing with someone parroting their script.  In
any case I would suggest buying a seperate SSD for every computer these
days since 100 GB is probably enough for most OS installs and they improve
performance for "little" extra money.  Good luck with the purchase.
