The NullTCP driver is the same one that is packaged in MiamiDX.
Latest status:
1) "Mutual" PPP works - if I start the interfaces on both my Amiga and the
Windows NT/2000 machine, PPP is established. However, there are several
problems with this:
a) It requires me to logon to the Windoze machine and start a dial-out
session.
b) The routing is messed up, since I can ping the othe PPP interface,
and the network card in the Windows machine from the Amiga, but I cannot
seem to go beyond that. Additionally, if I check the box to use the
address on the remote system as the default gateway, I seem to get into a
router loop, which is never good! (I have a modem attached to the Windows
2000 machine, so I can connect to the Internet, and in theory route from
the Amiga to the Internet via the Windows 2000 machine, which is what I
want to do, but it does not work properly from the Amiga; however,
that is another issue.)
2) Autoconnect (relying on the Windows RAS dial-in capability) does not
work at all. I was able to at least get a connect message from the NT 4.0
machine, but then it just seems to sit there. I cannot see any evidence
that the Windows machines do anything with the packets LCP request
packets. I think there may be a mismatch between the port speeds on the
Amiga and the Windows machines, but setting them the same does not work.
Software compression (not VJ header, but data compression) might also be
an issue. Is there anywhere in Miami to enable or disable software
compression?
Anyone out there successfully using a null-modem cable connect between an
Amiga and a Windows NT machine without resorting to starting both
interfaces?
