Yes, there are supply voltages on some of the the Amiga serial port
pins, but the same pins on your MODEM are usually not connected.
To be certain of this, you can make up a customised serial lead, which
simply doesn't connect those pins, or take the brute force method, and
snap those pins off an existing *cable* (yes, the cable, don't mutilate
a connector on a device, cables can be easily replaced).
Amiga serial port pins with non-standard uses:

Pin 9: +12 Volts.
Pin 10: -12 Volts.
Pin 11: Amiga audio out signal.
Pin 18: Amiga audio signal in.
