It says (I quote) "Your Modem is not responding to commands sent by Miami.
Please make sure that you selected the correct device and that your modem is
turned on. Diagnostic code=1."

Yeeeesss... I tried both selecting "GVP I/O Extender, Unit 0" from the
automatic list that Miami brings up, AND I tried selecting "Other" and typing
gvpser.device, the same device and unit number (0) that work successfully
with Genesis and the BBS program.
I've decided that at this point, Genesis combined with the fast GVP Serial
port on the G-Force 040is a better solution for me than Miami with either the
builtin Amiga serial port or the purchase of anoher i/o card. It just seems
really strange to me that Miami, supposedly a more advanced program than
Genesis (or A-Talk 3! :-), cannot seem to do a simple thing like communicate
successfully with my modem.
I really do appreicate your trying to help though... thank you. I will try
serlog from Aminet and see if I can learn anything helpful.
Incidentally... another fellow on this mailing list emailed me to say that he
also tried Miami with the GVP serial port on the G-Force 040, and also could
not get it to work. Could it be that Miami is looking for the version of the
GVP I/O extender which is a separate, dedicated card rather than the version
integrated with the accelerator card?
Kind regards,
Courtney
