IRC yes, Napster no. Napster is a "server" in the worst way. @Home
specifically scans the machines on it's service for the typical Napster
ports for this very reason. (I know this from experience with ZoneAlarm on
my Wife's PC, before we got the router) If a user has a popular collection
of files, and their number of users/downloads per user set high, they could
be serving ~ 4 to 6 Meg files to 20 or 30 users. Depending on the way it's
setup Napster can consume huge amounts of bandwidth.
Of course users with huge Barry Manilow collections need not worry. ;-)
