I suspect that you're toying with something that's not really the answer,
and you're just lucking it.
I'm beginning to wonder if you have some damaged RAM, and that starting
something else, first, causes Miami to get loaded into different areas of
RAM (that are fine).

It might be worth trying one of the alternative GUIs, just in case you've
found an obscure bug. I always avoided ClassAct, on any software, because
I found it to be one of the buggiest things on my computer.
But, have you tried running things without any other patches or utilities
running?
