I did get an RPM sense to work. I tried to build
the one referenced but while it worked with a signal
generator it didn't work on the car. I bought a shift
light circuit from racer parts wholesale for about $50
and then tied it to the ground side of the relay coil
and had the WOT switch provide the positive voltage
for the coil.
