2001 UK? Assuming it's a 3.9 with 14 CUX, there is a 90% chance it needs a stepper motor clean or replacement.

A good, established Land Rover dealer could diagnose this quickly. Ideally a new one should be set up on Testbook. The part would not be cheap via OEM channels unfortunately. An experienced dealer may be able to assist with that too..., maybe.

Hi folks,

Just back from a super Jockmog weekend down in the Scottish Borders around
Peebles. Dry at all the times that mattered and sunny all the way back
today. Good hotel and a great group of Jockmoggers.

Anyway, one of our members has a 2001 +8 that has recently started to stick
at around 2000rpm when they take their foot off the throttle. It just
sticks there as the idle speed, drive it above 2000rpm and it operates
normally until you want the revs to drop and then they don't. As the
member lives a long way from any dealer they usually have their Mog
serviced by a well respected local independent but seemingly he is stumped.
The problem doesn't show up every day but once it does it stays until the
car has been rested over a day or two and will then come back, maybe,
without notice during a run. Obviously this is dangerous and needs to be
fixed.

Before they start taking days off work to visit main dealers is there a
known issue that can cause this?

Cheers,
Lawrence
