Thank you, "Riff" (dkm), for the kind words. Yes, I see that this forum is
heavily engaged in the atomic awareness debate at the moment. I have a few
things which I *could* add to it, but I sense people are beginning to tire
of this particular topic and are ready to move on. So, I will introduce
myself instead...

I am 37 years old, a Research and Development Quality Specialist by trade,
married and father of one. Life has not always been this stable for me. I
read ZMM at an early age, and it fueled what was already a very restless
desire to get out of the small world of St. Paul, MN, and explore
everything, everywhere, all at once. Could it be this was my first awareness
of Dynamic Quality?

Straight out of high school, I enlisted in the Marine Corps, where I
remained for ten years. I was assigned to the only photo-reconnaissance
squadron in the air wing, and subsequently travelled far and often to
wherever our services were needed. My lust to experience DQ, (even though I
didn't know the term at the time) was largely satisfied in these wanderings
as I hungrily took in every single Quality experience which presented
itself. I tried hard not to let externally imposed morals stand in my way,
preferring to rely on my own preferrences and values to guide my behavior.
This, of course, resulted in a Bad Conduct Discharge in 1991.

The past decade has seen me go through many changes and adjustments. I
finally feel as though my moral compass is calibrated, and when I quiet
myself I can usually feel a sense of True North. I have ridden motorcycles
since I was a child, and recently experienced the highly Dynamic world of
motorcycle roadracing. I write a column, for Minnesota Motorcycle Monthly,
called "Diary of a Cafe Racer", and I am constantly chasing DQ from behind
the handlebars.

I know that most of you are quite advanced in formal education, and I deeply
respect that. I have been far too impatient up till now to pursue the same,
disciplined path. However, I plan to enroll at the University of Minnesota
in the fall, a freshman at the age of 38, to begin pursuing a Bachelors
degree in... some form of engineering. The goal is to become an ASQ
certified Quality Engineer, and then go about applying the principles of MoQ
to my work in industry.

I am here to learn. I see, in the MoQ, quite possibly the basis of that for
which I have searched my entire life. I get a glimpse of pure Dynamic
Quality every day as I watch our 15 month old Emily toddle around
discovering things. It is truly a joy to behold. I look forward to the same
sort of journey in this forum.

Sincerely,
Gary Charpentier
