MySQL may be new compared to Oracle, for example, but many other in-use DBs are in fact fairly new designs. They just happen to be written by* large companies you recognize every day.
Any ideas about Postgresql vs. MySQL? I have always preferred MySQL because of the speed, but I have heard that Postgres also got improved over time. Anybody has some experience willing to share? How much slower is Postgres?
