I guess there is a misunderstanding. We know the solution if
an app uses GConf key, just make NWAM change it according to
the Environment. We are discussing whether we want to do
something for those apps which do not use 3, such as those apps
which use WPAD. For those WPAD aware apps, providing a mechanism
in NWAM to convert WPAD info into GConf key does not help as
those apps can use WPAD to discover the info already.

Maybe Darren Kenny can provide some input here. He told me
before that he had not seen any specific mention of using this
to discover proxies.
