Maybe I've jumped in a little late in this thread, so let me ask you this: are you able AT ALL to login to any of the options given at the boot screen? Do any of the options allow for you to have a graphical login? Something else to check out as well - on CD3, there is an RPM labelled as Xtart-blablabla-rpm - install that - it allows you to easily start XWindows from the terminal/console prompt (by typing Xtart)...
