I have used Maxtor and Fujitsu drives for years - many years - and 
have never had problems with either until the problem with Maxtor a 
few months ago.  I spoke to tech support at my vendors, and they said 
that they had found exactly the same.

As I said, I have heard bad about every manufacturer, so I stick with 
the brands that I have always found to be reliable - and one is 
Maxtor.
