AO: [arts] can't connect to aRts soundserver
Could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound.
Audio: no sound

the prob is, tho, the arts sound server is not running, do I need to be
in KDE for it to run?

and once mplayer has grabbed /dev/dsp, is there no way to get it back
without rebooting?
