Phil,

Have you checked out MC? (Midnight Commander) That is one awesomely
powerful file manager that runs in console, but offers the user a
graphical interface. Extemely light and fast. You get a graphical file
manager that also allows you access to the command like all in the same
terminal window. Just open a terminal window, type 'mc' and hit enter. I
guarentee you'll like it right away.
