Fair question...BUT it's gonna come all down to personal
preference. I use KDE, but prefer to run Gnome type (GTK+) apps
on it. By the time I get done with KDE tho, you wouldn't recognize
it. First thing after install, ALL desktop icons are removed (I
prefer Angel Boris without blemishes ;) I make the kPanel (both of
'em) 'tiny'and 'fast disappearing'. Yet everything gets launched
from the panel.
If anyone's interested in how to remove all the damn icons, I
have my own method that works, and yet Autostart, Templates, Trash
are still functional. Email me, if enough people are interested,
I'll post to the list. Mandrake is jus' a bit different than the
'clean desktop' howto. Easier!
ps, I run Windoze the same way.. clean desk.. no cr@p all over it
