Dear Barry:After putting JDk there, all I had to do was open SO and check theOK, thanks for the /usr tip. Will untar the JDK 2.1.3 there and see what

Java Setup under the Bookmarks. If all is well, it will show Java
Development Software already installed. The bottom of the screen
will show "Java Home=/usr/jdk118_v3". I clicked OK and another
screen popped up saying that it would be enabled the next time I
opened SO. You should be good to go Benjamin.
