I didn't try sndconfig but I did try getting the drivers from Creative and
compiling them and following a tutorial at linuxnewbie.

I tried this and it didn't work...

It has to be easier than what I'm attempting.

Thanks for the reply!  I'll try using sndconfig and see what happens.
